Why StoryWoven exists
Everyone has a story. Not everyone gets asked for it.
StoryWoven is a place where stories are not only heard, but honored — and woven into a larger community narrative. Host Jon Harrison sits down with the people who make up this community: individuals with special needs, their families, caregivers, advocates, artists, and support professionals.
The conversations tend to circle the same territory from different directions: what it takes to feel like you belong somewhere, what families navigate as a young person moves from high school into adulthood, and how creativity turns into confidence when someone is given room to try.
Who it is for
Parents and caregivers looking for the road map nobody hands out. Self-advocates who want to hear their own experience reflected honestly. Educators, support professionals, and anyone curious about what an inclusive community actually looks like in practice, on an ordinary Tuesday.
You do not need a connection to InterArts or CBS to get something out of it. These are human conversations first.
The episodes
Episode 0 — Welcome to StoryWoven. Jon Harrison, joined by Kelly Daley and Taylor Martin, on the mission behind the podcast, the partnership that created it, and why storytelling builds belonging.
Episode 1 — Life After High School. Jen and her mother Kristen on creativity, inclusion, and belonging: art and scrapbooking, Jen’s dream of voice acting and puppetry, and a parent’s hard-won advice about trusting your instincts when choosing a program.
Episode 2 — Embracing the Moment. Brandon and his parents Mike and Cathy on community as an extension of family, being recognized as a whole person rather than a label, and building a legacy of happiness, peace, love, and joy.
