Ikkyu Mercedes Brito began her karate journey in 2006 and has been teaching the Little Warriors program since 2016. With over a decade of experience working with children—including those with special needs—she creates a positive, patient, and welcoming environment where every student feels encouraged to grow.
In addition to leading Little Warriors classes, Mercedes assists in teaching children, teens, and adults of all ages. She is passionate about fostering the strong sense of community that makes the dojo feel like family, while helping students build confidence, discipline, respect, and practical self-defense skills in a safe and supportive setting.
Mercedes also has the privilege of teaching the All Abilities class at InterArts. She considers it one of the most rewarding parts of her week, and the joy, enthusiasm, and smiles of her students remind her why she loves teaching. The welcoming, encouraging environment shared by everyone in the class is truly inspiring.
