Drop-InAssisted18+Creative Writing

Songwriting & Creative Expression

A welcoming, beginner-friendly space for exploring the voice, imagination, rhythm, poetry, and music. Each class begins with grounding and gentle vocal exploration before moving into playful songwriting exercises designed to help participants discover their own creative voice.

Through poetry, rhythm games, improvisation, group jams, lyric writing, listening exercises, and accessible songwriting techniques, participants will explore the many different ways a song can begin. Some weeks we may write from a feeling. Other weeks, from a word, a rhythm, a story, an image, or a favorite song.

There is no pressure to sing, perform, or create something "perfect." Participants are encouraged to engage in the way that feels most comfortable to them — whether through writing, singing, speaking, rhythm, movement, listening, or contributing ideas.

Yoga Fun at InterArts
Drop-InAssisted15+Yoga

Yoga Fun For All Abilities

Everyone is welcome to this class, which is infused with compassion, mindfulness, meditation and breathwork. Our instructors make postures accessible, whether seated, standing or coming down to the floor. This class is ideal for those seeking the physical and mental benefits of yoga who have limited mobility or balance because of injury or medical issues. We adapt postures using blocks, blankets, chairs, and the wall; all to find the many benefits of the yoga practice – increased mental and physical strength, balance and flexibility; rhythm, an inward sense of direction and the ability to move through life in a more integrated way. Yoga is an excellent tool to let go of fear and deal with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental and emotional struggles. The practice teaches students to become more in tune with both their mind and body, allowing them to recognize when they are suffering from anxiety, fatigue, or frustration and be able to put the breathing and calming techniques they have learned in yoga into practice in their daily lives. Yoga also boosts self-esteem as each person works at his or her own level, creating a sense of pride and accomplishment within. The socialization that comes from participating in a yoga class with others can also strengthen mental and emotional wellbeing. Yoga is an empowering practice because it meets people at their current level of functioning and moves towards meeting achievable goals.
