This group is open to new and experienced songwriters.
Each week we will share full or partial songs that we’ve worked on at home, and go through songwriting exercises together. You will learn the essential skills of identifying weak points in your writing, requesting feedback, open-minded and attentive listening, providing constructive critique and analysis for others, receiving and integrating input from others, and collaborating to hone your songs, and build your own community of songwriters.
In these workshop events, we utilize nonviolent communication and active listening techniques alongside tried-and-true practices that songwriters use in professional co-writing sessions.
Following each session, members of the group will be given a prompt and an exercise to spark songwriting at home.
The only requirement is that you must be comfortable playing your instrument of choice and willing to perform for the group. Having a way of recording your song is optional, but helpful.
